Primary Role
Manages an assigned account, or group of accounts, with the primary responsibility to create value for the assigned customers through the technical service they provide; and identifying new product opportunities and selling to existing customers. The Key Account Manager's focus is to maintain revenue, price capture, improve gross profit and meet business plan. Additionally, the Key Account Manager will work on attaining new business and applications within existing and prospective customers.
Key Accountabilities/Essential Functions of the Job
Maintain and build assigned business relationships ~35%
Review treatment programs and processes within the territory accounts ensuring effective applications through routine testing and monitoring resulting in customer satisfaction and business retention ~15%
Conduct the necessary site and LMS/classroom training programs to understand the overall operations of the territory plants and new customer sites ~10%
Sell new business and new applications in assigned territory – develop and implement sales plans on new opportunities ~25%
Manage profitability of the account (pump settings, pricing, accounts receivable) ~10%
Review territory applications and processes/procedures for safety improvements
Qualifications (Minimally Required Education, Work Experience, Knowledge and Licensure/Certifications)
Education: Bachelor's Degree (Science or other technical degree). Would consider experience in lieu of a technical degree.
Experience: 3-5 years industry experience (pulp & paper or water treatment preferred).
Documented results solving complex and non-routine technical problems.
Project management of complex projects.
Strong relationship management skills.
Experience learning new concepts and/or technology and applying them.
Ability to work with autonomy and direct/coach indirect reports.
Experience working with multiple levels in an organization to achieve results.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Documented results using a consultative sales process.
Travel Requirement: Expected travel to be 30-50% and will depend on the size of the assigned territory/customer base.
General Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor Industrial locations, with driving involved. Employee could be faced with working in temperature extremes. Employee may be required to lift and carry 50 pounds, manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude helpful. Use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, gloves, and H2S Monitor as required or needed. Work schedule may vary.
