The Production Manager BR is responsible for the daily safeguarding and control of production and for the optimal use of people, machines and other resources, taking planning, quality and budget into account for the plant located in Osasco, Brazil. He/She is responsible for the technical and disciplinary management and development of employees in the production area. The right candidate is a "plant floor warrior" and servant leader who leads by example and personally directs process improvements. This position reports to the VP Operations & Integration.Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the fulfillment of the production program in terms of quality, quantity, deadline and cost efficiency. Initiation of the rescheduling of personnel, tools and work processes in the event of disruptions and bottlenecks as well as the introduction of alternative productions.
Continuous assurance that production is carried out in accordance with applicable safety, environmental and health requirements.
Coordination of daily production meetings together with shift supervisors, logistics , planning, quality and maintenance.
Ensuring that all production department employees follow all current procedures and instructions related to the quality system and standards. Clear communication outside the department in case of problems or deviations related to the quality system
Leading the optimization and further development of manufacturing processes: identifying and initiating improvement projects to reduce waste, improve quality, reduce downtimes and increase productivity margins. Organization of cause determination for deviations as well as documentation and initiation of countermeasures.
Analyzing and optimizing production processes bymonitoring Global and Local KPIs.
Preparation of the Capex, personnel and maintenance budgets in cooperation and coordination with the VP Operations and Integration and Finance/Controlling
Selection of new employees and organization of their induction in cooperation with HR according to the Group Authorization Matrix
Organizing the instruction, training and further education of employees, planning and implementing relevant training for existing and new employees, ensuring continuous training for shift supervisors and production employees, together with HR.
Management and development of the production team. Ensuring the flow of information internally in the Plant and externally to the relevant stakeholders. In cooperation with the shift supervisors for a fair and optimal distribution of tasks among the employees in production, taking into account the individual skills and needs as well as the planning and the VP Operations & Integration .
Initiation of collective wage adjustments and ensuring compliance with legal and company regulations. Maintaining strong relationships at all levels and conducting employee interviews related to maintaining positive employee morale.
Responsible for disciplinary actions and terminations of work in cooperation with Group HRD and local HR, in alignment with VP Operations & Integration.
Conduct annual performance reviews and semi-annual reviews for direct reports.
Participation in planning the procurement and commissioning of new systems, machines and devices in coordination with other interfaces.
Management of the monitoring of production quality, the organization of self-checks, scrap and rework analyzes as well as measures for preventive quality assurance.
Supporting the management team in Osasco to develop the key data, goals and strategic orientation of the Osasco plant.
Reporting : Track and report on production results in terms of quantity, waste and yield.
Management of relationships and facilitating the integration with the global organization at all Group sites.
Position requirements
Master's or bachelor's degree in engineering or similar (completed technical university degree), business administration or comparable
Proven track record of delivering results in a high-performance continuous improvement environment
Demonstrated knowledge of a lean manufacturing principles and tools as well as process engineering skills
Confident handling of MS Office (Excel and Word) and ERP system (Dynamics 365 preferred)
Ability to effectively articulate problems, facilitate their resolution and report findings verbally and in writing to multiple levels of the organization
Good leadership skills including communication skills, team building and the ability to empower shift members
Solid decision-making skills; Ability to identify root cause and corrective actions
Proven business acumen and a basic understanding of the income statement
Nice-to-have: previous experience in the paper industry or similar
Years of experience:
3+ years management of production areas and teams
Languages:
Fluency in English is a prerequisite.
