OVERVIEW This role is accountable for providing health, safety, environment and security (HSES) support to facilities in their region. The regional manager will provide direct support to the Lubrizol facilities located in Central and South America (note: the regional manager will also provide support to some smaller sites in the USA). The regional manager is also responsible for providing direct support to assure ongoing safe operations in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and corporate policies and standards while striving for continuous improvement and industry best practices in support of One Lubrizol. The position is ideally located in South America, near a Lubrizol manufacturing facility.
Accountability: The Regional HSES Manager, Americas, is accountable for providing support in the region to achieve HSES objectives and best in class performance in alignment with corporate goals and objectives. This position supports the implementation of corporate programs, initiatives, and management systems in the facilities of their region in support of the broader organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support Global HSES audit program by conducting audits in their region (health & safety, environmental, RCMS, RC14001);Support sites with incident investigation and case management;Collaborate with Senior Manager HSES Americas and Global HSES to identify risk and develop programs;Provide technical support for HSES platforms;Identify site specific risks with site HSES professionals to mitigate and eliminate;Participate in the strategic planning process;Act as a subject matter expert to the Americas region to upskill employees, clarify standards, and share best practices;Conduct training and help ensure compliance with PPE, Energy Control Program, Hazardous Communication, Emergency Response, Hot Work, Working from Heights, Confined Space Permitting, Ergonomics and other programs;Support RCMS and RC14001 management system implementation and sustainability, Process Safety, and Environmental Compliance, etc.; andSupport Americas and Global safety and environmental goals.Position requires domestic and international travel estimated at 20%.
Minimum Qualifications Education and/or Experience B.S. Degree – Engineering, Safety or related5-10+ years of experience in HSES, chemical plant management, process safety, engineering or relatedMust have knowledge of HSES regulations and industry standardsExperience in a chemical/petrochemical companyRemote experience and regional management experience is a strong plusStrong organization and influencing skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional mannerMust be able to travel throughout North America and South America approximately 20%CORE COMPETENCIES Analytical: Applies rational, logical reasoning to problem solving; recognizes broad implication of issues; can identify underlying issues and root causes to problems.
