RPLS Job Overview:
Must be able to coordinate with other project team members in the office and the field. The RPLS must be motivated to work in a changing environment with tight deadlines, all while maintaining a professional attitude. All work must be completed ethically and with integrity.
The RPLS is responsible for leading field crews in conducting easement, boundary, control, and topographic surveys, as well as utility surveys. The RPLS ensures the accuracy of data collection, manages survey equipment, and serves as the primary point of contact on-site. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills, along with the ability to effectively communicate with other team members and the client.
Key Responsibilities: Survey Execution:
Conduct and oversee field data collection for easement, boundary, control, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and utility surveys. Lead field crews or collaborate with survey technicians to ensure timely and accurate completion of surveys. Competently lead a field crew, providing clear communication, direction, and problem-solving. Manage daily operations, ensuring the team follows proper surveying procedures and safety protocols.Client and Property Owner Interaction:
Interact with clients, property owners, and stakeholders to discuss survey needs, processes, and progress. Serve as the on-site contact for addressing inquiries or concerns regarding survey work.Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:
Maintain, calibrate, and ensure the proper care of survey instruments and equipment. Oversee the maintenance and readiness of the survey vehicle, ensuring it is stocked with necessary tools and supplies.Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure all surveys comply with the State of Texas legal standards. Prepare detailed field notes, sketches, and reports for project documentation and review. Review imported and processed surveying data collected in the field, and analyze the data.Qualifications: Must be competent in leading a field crew with clear communication and leadership abilities.Experience Required:
5 years or more of proven experience conducting easement, boundary, control, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic surveys.Proficiency in using GPS, data collectors, total stations, and other modern surveying instruments.Competent using Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey and/or Civil 3D.Physical Requirements Based on Working Conditions:
Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs. frequently, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally. Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including standing, kneeling, bending, and hiking in rough terrain. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and challenging terrains. Willingness to travel to job sites as required.Technical Knowledge:
Experience in boundary resolution and the preparation of easement surveys. Familiarity with GPS and Trimble software (global positioning systems and Trimble Business Center/Trimble Access applications).Education & Experience:
A.S. degree, supplemented by courses in drafting, architectural or mechanical drawing, and mathematics. Experience in surveying and mapping work (experience and education may be substituted for one another).Other Requirements:
Must have a valid Texas driver's license or the ability to obtain one. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.Preferred Qualifications: A.S. or B.S. in Land Surveying preferred (not required).Familiarity with survey and CAD software (Carlson, AutoCAD, Civil 3D) is a plus.Company Description:
