We are seeking a Science Operations Manager to lead and oversee all ground operations for our MRV activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in soil science, agronomy, or environmental science, coupled with proven leadership skills and operational expertise. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate execution of field protocols, the integrity of collected data, and the successful implementation of ERW methodologies. The Science Operations Manager will collaborate closely with farmers, SciOps team, and stakeholders, driving the efficiency and quality of our MRV processes while fostering strong partnerships within the agricultural and mine sectors.Location: Near Dourados (MGDS), Assis (SP) or Maringa (PA)Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management:Oversee all ground operations for MRV activities, including soil solid, soil pore water, crop, weather and rock data collection.Ensure field protocols and methodologies are executed accurately and consistently.Monitor and maintain operational timelines to meet CDR and ERW goals.Manage procurement processes, including sourcing, ordering, and tracking devices and materials required for MRV operations, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project budgets.Team Leadership and Supervision:Recruit, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary field team, including field scientists, field assistants, field operators and technicians.Foster collaboration between SciOps, Operations, and Tech teams to optimize workflows.Data and Quality Management:Oversee the installation, maintenance, and functionality of experimental devices (e.g., soil moisture sensors, lysimeters, and weather stations).Supervise sample collection, preparation, storage, and shipment to labs.Implement QA/QC protocols to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.Stakeholder Coordination:Build and maintain relationships with farmers, ensuring smooth collaboration and integration of field activities.Strategic Planning:Develop and execute operational plans for field trials/pilots, MRV campaigns, and new rock deployments in collaboration with the SciOps and Ops Teams.Ensure compliance with ERW protocols and contribute to the evolution of methodologies to enhance data collection and reporting.Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and reporting for ground operations.QualificationsMaster's or PhD in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related field.5+ years of experience managing field operations, preferably in agricultural or environmental projects.Strong leadership and team management experience, with a proven track record of supervising multidisciplinary teams.Expertise in MRV operations and protocol development for soil/crop/water/rock sampling.Proficiency in data management tools and platforms; experience with GIS is a plus.Willingness to travel frequently to farming sites.Fluent in Portuguese and English.Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently within Brazil.About UsOur mission is to stabilize Earth's climate by transforming nature's most powerful permanent carbon removal process into a global climate solution.
