The Security Architect will play a critical role in designing, building, and implementing enterprise-class security systems.
This hands-on position will involve direct involvement in security initiatives initially, with the opportunity to grow and lead a security team over time.
The ideal candidate will have a robust background in security architecture, with experience in industries such as financial services, government (including defense contracting), or healthcare being highly desirable.
Additionally, the candidate must be capable of evaluating and configuring security products, as well as building security solutions from scratch.
Key Responsibilities: Design and implement security architecture for new systems and enhancements to existing systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
Conduct security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management to identify security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Evaluate and configure security products to ensure they meet the organization's requirements and integrate seamlessly into the existing infrastructure.
Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
Oversee the implementation of security solutions such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), encryption, and identity and access management (IAM) systems.
Monitor security trends, emerging threats, and technologies to proactively improve the company's security posture.
Lead incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation of security breaches.
Provide security training and awareness programs for employees to promote a culture of security within the organization.
Prepare and present regular reports on the status of information security programs and initiatives to executive management.
Initially act as a hands-on security expert, with the potential to recruit, mentor, and lead a dedicated security team as the company grows.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in information security, with at least 10 years in a security architect role.
Strong knowledge of security architecture principles and practices.
Proficiency with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, and encryption.
Experience with evaluating and configuring security products to meet organizational needs.
Experience with cloud security and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
In-depth understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA).
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or SANS GIAC.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in financial services, government (including defense contracting), or healthcare industries.
Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools.
Knowledge of secure coding practices and software development methodologies.
Experience with threat modeling and risk assessment techniques.
