Job Title: Senior Accountant Location: São Paulo, Brazil Contract Type: Full-time IR35- Inside About the Role We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our client's team, supporting its accounting and finance operations in São Paulo, Brazil.
This role is essential to the Record-to-Report and Procure-to-Pay functions, where you will manage the month-end close process, work collaboratively with the international accounting team, and coordinate with the company's outsourced accounting service provider.
This role provides exposure to key accounting and reporting areas across the company and offers the opportunity to drive improvements within the Brazilian organization.
Key Responsibilities Conduct period-end accounting activities, including month-end close journals, and perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet (BS) and profit & loss (PL) flux analysis.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, adhering to SOX 404 requirements under both US GAAP and BR GAAP.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and SOX procedures.
Support internal SOX audits, respond to local tax authority inquiries, and handle tax audits.
Collaborate with the international accounting and finance team and coordinate with the company's outsourced financial service provider.
Facilitate purchase requisition reviews and ensure timely payment of invoices.
Build and maintain trust-based partnerships with various departments to foster open communication.
Drive process, control, and system improvements, including creating and maintaining process notes.
Qualifications Strong technical knowledge of accounting and finance processes.
Proven experience in preparing high-quality balance sheet reconciliations and identifying potential accounting issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels and functions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel.
Experience with Oracle R12, OBIEE, HFM, SMART View (Essbase data sources), or SAP is an advantage.
Background in a Big 4 or public audit firm and experience in a SOX-compliant environment or International Shared Service Center is preferred.
Knowledge of direct tax is beneficial.
Fluent in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plus.
Recently qualified or working toward an Accounting Qualification.
