This role is based in Belo Horizonte and sits within the Belo Finance Hub* team, part of the Finance Operations group. The Senior Accountant will support month end close and other accounting activities for one or more of our North America or Latam entities.
*Finance Hub' is the term used by Thoughtworks to mean Finance Shared Services.
Job responsibilitiesPerform mid-month end closing activities accurately and on time, including preparing and posting journal entries for prepayments, depreciation and amortization.Perform month end closing activities accurately and on time, including preparing and posting journal entries for payroll and expenses.Maintain and review accuracy of general ledger balances, including preparation and review of monthly account reconciliations.Maintain an accurate fixed asset register.Help coordinate and support local statutory audits and other compliance requirements including local filings such as VAT returns.Perform SOX controls and retain 'audit ready' evidence/support.Build productive working relationships with Regional Controllers in North America and Latam and other members of the Belo Finance Hub.Job qualificationsTechnical SkillsCRC registration and accounting experience.Strong working knowledge of accounting transactions typical for a globally distributed professional services business.Experience performing and/or supporting audits.Advanced Microsoft Excel user.It is desirable to have a working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials (Oracle).Experience supporting North America and Latam subsidiaries is desirable.Experience supporting a local statutory audit in North America and Latam regions is desirable.Professional SkillsStrong written and verbal English language communications skills.Available to work on-site a few days each month at the coworking space in Belo Horizonte, MG (Hybrid Contract).Willingness to adjust working hours to align with stakeholders.Proven ability to proactively and independently problem solve; good common sense judgment.Other things to knowLearning & DevelopmentThere is no one-size-fits-all career path at Thoughtworks: however you want to develop your career is entirely up to you.
