The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of legal experience with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, particularly in the payments, cryptocurrency, fintech, or technology industries.
This is a part-time, contract role designed to support our expansion in the LatAm region, specifically in Brazil and Mexico.
Key Responsibilities: Commercial Contracts & Negotiations: Draft and negotiate contracts with customers and partners across payments, banking, and cryptocurrency sectors.
Handle revenue-generating agreements while adhering to Ripple's standard models, adapting terms as needed.
Manage contract risks and ensure business-focused solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support and work with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Product, Payment Operations, Finance, Business Development, Sales, and Data Privacy.
Facilitate customer onboarding in collaboration with these teams.
LatAm Focus: Work primarily within Brazil and Mexico, supporting the Company's business in the region.
Collaborate internationally with teams, particularly in the US, maintaining flexibility with time zones and responsiveness, especially to San Francisco.
Provide legal support for LatAm-specific commercial activities while ensuring global consistency in legal strategy.
Team & Office Presence: Build strong relationships with the São Paulo office's sales, engineering, CPS, and account management teams.
Spend 1-3 days per week in the São Paulo office to maintain collaboration with local teams.
Fast-Paced Environment: Work in a dynamic, fast-moving company with quick decision-making and adaptability.
Ensure regular communication with management and team members on the progress of legal matters.
Qualifications Experience: 6-10 years of legal experience, with a strong background in transactional work (e.g., M&A, vendor contracts, financial services, cryptocurrancy).
Significant experience negotiating commercial agreements in the payments, fintech, or technology industries.
Previous in-house counsel experience is preferred, especially within fast-paced environments.
Skills & Attributes: Strong negotiation skills, with a detail-oriented and organized approach.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
A business-minded approach to legal issues, with a focus on driving revenue and minimizing risks.
Proactive, hands-on attitude, able to move quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
Language Proficiency: Fluent in Portuguese and English (required).
Conversational Spanish (preferred); ability to negotiate contracts in Spanish is an asset.
Technical Skills: Experience working in the tech, payments, or blockchain sectors, with a solid understanding of relevant legal frameworks.
Ability to work cross-jurisdictionally and manage legal matters in multiple countries, especially Brazil and Mexico.
Additional Information: Part-Time Role: Initially part-time, requiring approximately 10-15 hours per week.
Potential for role expansion as the company launches new products and expands in LatAm.
