**The Role**:
- Assist the Senior SQL Server DBA in BAU SQL Server administration.
- Assist the Senior SQL Server DBA in ensuring a smooth running of the entire SQL Estate of the organisation.
- Patch and Upgrade SQL Server environments as and when required.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Incident management (Level 4)**
- Prioritise and diagnose incidents according to agreed procedures.
- Investigate causes of incidents and seek resolution.
- Escalate unresolved incidents.
- Facilitate recovery, following resolution of incidents.
- Document and close resolved incidents according to agreed procedures.
**Problem management (Level 4)**
- Initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes and services.
- Determine problem fixes/remedies.
- Assist with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
**Requirements definition and management (Level 2)**
- Assist in the definition and management of requirements.
**Change Management (Level 4)**
- Assess, Analyse, Develop, documents and implement changes based on requests for change.
**Information content publishing (Level 1)**
- Contribute, under instruction, to publication support activities and support the collation of data.
- Take source material in various proprietary formats and use the publishing process to create content according to appropriate guidelines.
**What skills and experience you bring**:
- Degree or equivalent in Information Technology.
- Related Microsoft Certification.
- A minimum of 2/3 years' experience in a similar capacity.
- Knowledge and understanding of MS SQL 2019, Azure SQL DB.
- Installation, upgradation, configuration, and management of SQL server.
- Knowledge in SQL Server migrations, including upgradation of SSIS packages.
- Understand SSIS/SSAS/SSRS, configuration and migration of ETL packages is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in HADR techniques in SQL Server, including Log shipping, Clustering, and AOAG.
- Exposure in SQL Server performance tuning techniques.
- Understand SQL Internals, database engine and Optimisation is desirable but not essential.
- Understand the MS SQL Licensing models is desirable but not essential.
- Understand MS Azure (DBAAS, IFAAS, PAAS) is desirable but not essential.
- Understand Microsoft Server OS (2016/2019).
- Understand MS Cluster Technologies.
- Understand Fibre SAN Technology and RAID technology is desirable but not essential.
- Exposure in SolarWinds and COMM Vault is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge in PowerShell for SQL Server is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge in Nutanix is desirable but not essential.
- Understand Prince2 and ITIL concepts is desirable but not essential.
- Able to work SL time frame between 11:30 to 22:30.
