The opportunity: Reporting to the Financial Controller
- Health Insurance, you will be responsible for delivering the month-end close and reporting activities for the Health Insurance Business Unit.
You will also be is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger as well as assisting projects and initiatives in the business.
This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity and is based in Melbourne with hybrid work arrangement available.
How will I help?
Key accountabilities include:
- Month end close - Ensure adherence to strict timelines in performing the monthly general ledger close for entities within the Health Insurance Business Unit in conjunction with the broader Group Financial Control and Finance teams.
- General Ledger reconciliations - Maintain General Ledger account reconciliations to facilitate effective record keeping, monthly reporting, audit compliance, whilst ensuring that unreconciled items are promptly investigated and appropriately cleared in a timely manner.
- Reporting to Group Finance - Ensure accurate and timely delivery of Group IFRS and Solvency II reporting requirements.
- Projects and initiatives - Support business projects and initiatives which impacts the general ledger and ensure the associated accounting entries are accurate and correct.
Coordinate and collaborate with broader reporting team in performing general ledger testing and enhancement activities.
- Gross margin analysis - Analysis of premium revenue and claims from a general ledger perspective in collaboration with Actuarial and BOSS IS Application Support teams to provide insights on underlying drivers and trends.
This also encompasses reconciliation between general ledger and enterprise data warehouse using SAS enterprise guide.
- Balance sheet forecasting - Understand and incorporate key assumptions and drivers for material balance sheet accounts as part of the balance sheet forecasting process.

What do I need?
- Chartered Accountant or CPA Australia qualification
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting/finance or a similar role within the finance function of a large corporate
- Strong understanding of reconciliation processes, audit and control processes and accounting standards
- High attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Previous experience and exposure to high volume data flows and analysis an advantage
- Experience with SAS enterprise guide (or similar tools) is preferred
- Knowledge of IFRS 17 an advantage
