About the Role
We are looking for a
Senior Risk Engineer
Engineering & Construction (E&C) to join our Property & Specialty business segment in the Latin American (LatAm) region and provide technical advice to Engineering & Construction underwriters and their clients in the region.
You will advise our underwriters on risk quality, loss estimates, and loss prevention measures for our E&C book of business.
This includes:
Reviewing, interpreting, and summarizing submissions including third party technical risk information.
Conducting on-site risk inspections and progress reviews to verify our clients' risk mitigation approaches.
Providing clients with risk improvement suggestions.
In this role, you will closely interact with underwriters and other internal and external clients.
As a member of our global Risk Engineering Services (RES) team, you will be one of our experts in this dedicated core industry.
This will allow you to contribute to various projects and papers involving best practices, guidelines, technology, and industry updates.
This role has global responsibilities and the team comes from a diverse range of backgrounds, so you should be comfortable working in a truly international environment.
About the Team
The RES E&C team is part of RES Energy and currently consists of three engineers and an additional contractor located in EMEA, one in North America (NA), and one in Asia Pacific (APAC).
The goal is to build this team to around twelve to thirteen people in the next few years.
About You
You are a Civil engineer with:
Experience in the civil construction industry (tunnels, bridges, civil infrastructure, residential).
At least 10 years' experience in the construction industry (design, project lead, site manager, commissioning).
A hands-on project experience on major infrastructure, residential, and industrial projects.
Project management specific training / courses.
Strong knowledge of project control tools (scheduling, cost, procurement).
Sound knowledge of the Insurance E&C business.
Previous experience as an insurance risk engineer at a broker, insurance company, or loss adjuster (a plus).
Experience or strong interest in loss prevention topics (fire protection, water damage, technical risk management).
Sound knowledge of building codes, regulations, and loss prevention and fire protection standards (NFPA or equivalent).
Strong communication, negotiation, and presenting skills, an entrepreneurial attitude, and a service mindset.
A good team player approach.
High analytical capacity and focus on details.
Willingness to travel worldwide.
Language skills: Portuguese/Spanish, English (essential), any other would be advantageous.
