**JOB DUTIES**:
This role understands and executes standard work to ensure the scope of services achieve and maintain appropriate level of risk and compliance to internal policies and procedures, including those relating to sustainability, cybersecurity, SOX, and IT General Controls.
**Other job duties include, but not limited to**:
- Competent to perform all programming, project management, and development/deployment assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.
- Acts as team leader for development and support groups; provides programming and Infrastructure technology leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members.
- Works directly on complex technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
- Deploys or integrates infrastructure technology components based on requirements gathered from customers.
- Performs integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
- Fully knowledgeable of the relevant programming languages, program design and specification development, programming logic, logic diagrams, system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage and internal systems and cross platform infrastructure components; can provide training on these topics for others;
- Performs implementation and integration tasks for medium to large, complex in-house developed systems and/or purchased software solutions.
- Assists customers with documentation, training, and usability efforts.
- Integrates processes across functional organizations.
- Typically serves as a team member on one or more 6 Sigma projects.
- Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.
**BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE**:
- Requires a relevant degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience.
- The incumbent should be knowledgeable of the relevant programming languages; computing hardware and software; infrastructure elements, and current development processes and tools.
- Six to ten years in development and support work related to systems or infrastructure technology is common.
- In addition, the incumbent should have a good knowledge of Caterpillar policies and procedures, and a general understanding of Caterpillar's organization."
- Manage the Corporate SQL Server DBA team in US, and India Team ; Assign tasks to individual DBAs and Monitor them
- Ensure the Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met for the tickets assigned to incident queues
- Conduct weekly team meetings with the team (one for US and one for non US may be needed due to time zone differences)
- Schedule weekly meeting with the supervisor to go over the status of projects, queues, issues, and escalations needed where applicable
- Maintain and administer 570+ instances supported by GIS in NA, EAME, and AP including Solar and Perkins including configuration and tuning, and Account Management
- Install and Configure SQL Server 2012 Developer, Enterprise, Standard, and Express Editions onwards
- Perform Application DBA work when needed
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve SQL Server issues when necessary, during on/off-shift and weekends.
- Provide technical leadership for all aspects of database management such as database lifecycle management, monitoring, support, disaster recovery, compliance, and standards.
- Research new SQL database versions, features, tools, and technologies with an Enterprise perspective to meet customer needs while maintaining a secure database environment.
