We are currently searching for a Brazil/South America Senior Tax Manager to join the company.
This is a leadership position with a large amount of oversight and responsibility.
The business operates across Brazil & Chile and on an international scale, offering interesting and challenging tax work.
Essential Responsibilities:
Tax Leadership
- Work closely with the VP Finance for Latin America, the Wabtec Latam finance team, external tax provider, Regional Tax Leaders and Global Tax Controllership teams to ensure consistency in process, risk and outcomes.
- Support planning and project work, including reviewing optimized legal structures for commercial deals.
- Support the business on key projects as well as ad-hoc tax queries, including transfer pricing, corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions.
Corporate Income Taxes
- Support external tax provider with regards to tax compliance work and be the interface between finance teams in the region for the collection and analysis of financial data, legal documents and other relevant information required for local tax return filings.
- Ensure accurate and adequate BR GAAP and US GAAP tax reporting (tax provisions, return to accrual, deferred taxes).
- Support tax audits/reviews within region and work with business finance teams to prepare for audits.
Support any government tax audit.
- Review tax filings prepared by external tax providers as well as any statutory tax disclosures for
statutory audit.
- Recommend improvements to tax systems and controls.
Brazil VAT and Local Taxes
- Provide VAT and Local Tax advice to the business on finance operations, supply chain changes, commercial transactions and legislative changes.
- Advice the business on VAT and Local Tax issues, ensuring tax risk is managed appropriately for all commercial and corporate operations.
- Own the Global Indirect Tax compliance and reporting process ensuring accurate and timely filing; Work closely with the internal and external VAT compliance teams, the Regional Finance leaders, and the Finance IT group to constantly improve indirect tax reporting efficiency and accuracy through process improvement and system assessments.
- Conduct risk and control analysis for indirect tax processes and identify areas where controls can be enhanced.
- Formulate and drive wider VAT Local Tax strategy of the group,
- coordinate tax audits, appeals, negotiations and litigation as needed
Qualifications/Skills and Attributes:
Academic Background
Master's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Economics or (tax) Law
Languages
English is a must
IT knowledge
Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and accounting packages (Oracle and Sage Preferable)

- High level of attention to detail
- Good communication skills and proven ability to develop strong professional relationship with internal and external parties
- Professional interpersonal and relationship skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to technically discuss with Regional Executive Leadership, Regional Tax, Global Tax Controllership team, our local Corporate CIT providers and Auditors where necessary.
