Social Projects and Cooperativism Consultant The Social Projects and Cooperativism Consultant will be responsible for dealing with all issues relating to social projects and waste picker cooperatives to support the development of the Municipal Waste Management Plan.
The Consultant's initial objective is to support the diagnostic stage by collecting information and data on actions and initiatives linked to waste picker organizations and related social projects implemented in the city of São Paulo, together with the UN-Habitat waste team.
He/she will also propose solutions to develop and adapt social projects related to solid waste, as well as establish, together with the team, an action plan and targets to achieve the defined objectives.
The Social Projects and Cooperativism Consultant will work in close collaboration with the Technical Coordinator, the General Coordinator, the operational and technical teams of UN-Habitat offices in Rio de Janeiro, as well as with the local project team, staff of other UN Agencies, Government officials, media, multilateral and bilateral donors and civil society.Work Location: Five (5) months upon the signature of the contract.Duties and Responsibilities:Under the overall supervision of the National Officer for Brazil, the Social Projects and Cooperativism Consultant will be responsible for delivering the following products:Product 1: Prepare a Work Plan regarding the object, stages, and products of the consultancy, with detailed scope, required information, schedule of activities, and flow of review and approval.Product 2: Develop a diagnosis of social projects related to municipal waste management and waste picker organizations in São Paulo, including a survey of organizations and an overview of major projects.Product 3: Propose solutions and prepare an Action Plan with targets to enhance social projects and cooperativism in waste management in São Paulo.Qualifications/Special Skills:Academic Qualifications: Required: Post-Graduation course in Social Sciences, Sociology, Humanities, or related fields, or additional 4 (four) years of relevant technical experience.
Bachelor's degree in the same fields is required.Experience: A minimum of four (4) years providing technical support related to sustainable development, social projects, and waste pickers cooperativism.Skills: Excellent writing and proof-reading skills in Portuguese; good computer skills; ability to engage in dialogue with cooperatives and various sectors.Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is required; good command in oral and written Spanish and English is desirable.Additional Information:The Social Projects and Cooperativism Consultant must be available to travel to the City of São Paulo.
The consultant will be responsible for travel expenses and logistics.Remuneration: SB-4/1 (UNDP Brazil Salary Scale).
