We are seeking an ESG Regulatory & Product Material Compliance Counsel responsible for the South America region to be based in Brazil who will be a member of our Global Competency Center in our business function Legal and Integrity.
This role will report to the Head of L&I Regulatory Affairs.
Your Responsibilities: Support corporate ESG & Product Regulatory Compliance roadmap.Monitor, interpret and advise on ESG and Product Material Compliance related regulations in the Region impacting Hitachi Energy, including opportunities and risks.Translate legal requirements into company, business, and product impact; develop effective compliance and implementation strategies including adequate risk management.Align local or regional approaches with global processes and requirements, ensure consistent and efficient implementation throughout Business Units and Functions.Guide and coordinate legal correspondence with officials, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders across Hitachi Energy's organization.Build and maintain work-relationships with regulatory bodies in governments and administration to further boost Hitachi Energy's compliance activities.Support the establishment of new or improvement of existing compliance processes.Proactively identify and lead compliance related issues and challenges, head internal investigations and lead Hitachi Energy's legal position.Ensure the implementation of corporate regulations and standards in the Region, monitor execution.Develop and provide education to all stakeholders, create effective ways for visible knowledge sharing throughout the company.Living core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.Your Background: Legal degree from an accredited law school; bar admission desirable, experience with ESG regulations with focus on environmental regulations.Workable knowledge in Chemistry, Materials or Engineering a great plus.Excellent communication skills on all managerial and executive levels in a complex matrix organization.Ability to work and report remotely, open-minded and dynamic attitude to changes; intercultural sensitivity.Experience in project and external resource management.Pro-active, self-driven personality, creative thinker, hands-on and problem-solving mentality to challenge the "status quo".Willingness to develop the role and scope considering evolving regulatory environment.Local language, fluent English, other languages an asset.Willingness to travel (10-20%).
