Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment by applying effective behavior management strategies.
Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks to ensure safety.
Be attentive to students' emotional and physical needs and provide appropriate support.
Inform the administration of any significant issues or concerns related to student behavior, progress, or safety.
Work collaboratively with parents, teaching assistants, therapists, and other support staff to implement IEP goals and support students' needs.
Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and guidelines, including confidentiality, safety, and professional conduct.
Attend any required briefings, meetings, seminars, or training to stay updated on school policies and student needs.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
A valid teaching license or certification.
For those without a specific SPED credential, experience in handling students with diverse needs is preferred.
Previous experience working with students with special needs in a classroom or educational setting is an advantage.
Other skills preferred but not required:
Understanding of various disabilities (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, etc.) and a willingness to be trained and learn new strategies to support students with these needs.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and support staff.
Strong interpersonal skills, to build rapport with students, work as a team, and be kind to all.
Ability to quickly adapt to different classroom environments, student needs, and lesson plans.
Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a caring attitude toward students with special needs.
A genuine passion for working with the individual with special needs, supporting their growth and development, and embracing new strategies to enhance their learning.
