**The Role**: Sr Research Analyst, Latin American Natural Gas (Rio de Janeiro)
**The Team**: The Gas, Power, and Climate Solutions team is part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, and it includes various analysts who work on power and renewables, clean technology, natural gas/LNG/hydrogen, climate and energy scenarios and energy transition issues.
This position would be on the Latin America gas team, with team members in Boston, USA, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
**The Impact**: As a member of the natural gas practice in Latin America, this position will focus on gas markets across the region to provide quantitative research, create regular and stand-alone reports, contribute to consulting projects, and support local events.
The Gas, Power, and Climate Solutions team is comprised of highly motivated professionals located around the world, delivering critical information to a wide client base from across the energy value chain.
Will advance their knowledge of gas and energy markets in Latin America, work with a highly collaborative international team of energy professionals and advise clients on the drivers shaping gas markets.
Will get a global view of energy markets and opportunities and challenges of the energy transition.
Will Interact with high-level decision-makers across governmental and private organizations.
**Responsibilities**:
Evaluate, model, and analyze South American natural gas market fundamentals including analysis of supply, demand, storage, prices, transportation, and various other factors.
Lead or contribute to regular reports that communicate key market drivers and fundamental shifts in South American natural gas markets.
Deliver insights through written reports, presentations, and client interactions.
Carry out topical research to help clients understand drivers, trends, competitive landscape, and opportunities.
Establish and maintain relationships with clients to understand their needs in addition to ensuring they know the capabilities of S&P Global
**What We're Looking For**:
Minimum of an undergraduate degree in economics, statistics, business, engineering or a related discipline; a graduate degree is a plus.
Three or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
Team player with an ability to work independently and efficiently with a self-management mindset.
Attention to detail.
Strong analytical skills, forecasting skills, and the ability to work with large data sets are a requirement.
Data mining, programming (VBA, SQL), econometrics, forecasting, and Power BI skills a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish fluency a plus
Ability to manage and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Willingness and ability to do some travel locally and internationally
