The Staff Accountant supports the daily and monthly accounting operations of Royal Brazil This individual ensures the timely and accurate entry of accounting transactions and supports the efforts of the Lead Accounting to ensure that the company books and records fairly reflect its financial position in accordance with relevant accounting standards and company policies
The position requires extensive interaction with other departments and divisions including Treasury Tax Financial Planning and Analysis among others
This individual must have a strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles must be familiar with intercompany and must be able to communicate and interact effectively with employees and managers from different departments and divisions The person must be detail-oriented organized and accurate in their work
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
Prepares monthly journal entries for review equity pick-ups accruals
- reclassifications Provides support to the regular periodic closing process as required to ensure a timely and efficient close of each reporting period and the delivery of timely and accurate financial reports to senior managementPerforms reconciliations on accounts (BRGAAP and USGAAP) and schedules to ensure the accuracy of data maintained in the general ledger; identifies reconciliation issues and elevates any solutions or concerns to the Lead AccountantReviews and assist in the compilation of Balance Sheet results in preparation for monthly and quarterly meetings with senior managementApplies accounting concepts and policies in the preparation and review of financial transactions which may include but are not limited to foreign subsidiary consolidation inter-company transactions high volume complex accruals and prepaid expenses across a large number of accountsAssists in the review of entity-wide inter-company arrangements to provide the appropriate accounting treatment to senior management of Tax and Treasury departmentsAssists management in the analysis and review of Actual vs
Forecast explanations submitted by the operating groups Ensures that financial information complies with relevant professional industry and regulatory standards**Qualifications**:
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; advanced degrees will be considered a plus- Five or more years of experience in accountingCertified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is a plus or eligibility to take the CPA examDemonstrated hands-on experience consolidating financial statements**Knowledge and Skills**:
Experience with JD Edwards (or similar) systems is a plus- Strong skills in Microsoft Office particularly with ExcelStrong analytical verbal and written communication skills
