Their primary business lines include property and liability insurance for commercial clients, as well as property and auto insurance for individuals.ABOUT THE ROLEReporting to the Assistant Vice President of Accounting, the selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring tax compliance across various subsidiaries as well as reviewing and supervising a small amount of payroll. Main responsibilities include managing tax obligations and producing financial analyses.This is a great opportunity for someone interested in a dynamic role with diverse responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be recognized for their efficiency, organizational skills, and technical expertise in tax laws and regulations.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare tax provisions and returns for the subsidiaries under their management.Calculate legal remittances, complete and submit tax forms, and ensure timely payments (installments, premium taxes, insurance sales tax, GST/QST, etc.).Liaise with tax authorities.Ensure compliance with jurisdictional tax laws and remain updated on changes or new requirements.Prepare and record entries for period closings and apply internal control procedures.Prepare the year-end file for external financial statement audits.Responsible for the complete payroll cycle for approximately 200 employees across Canada, as well as benefits programs, including group insurance, pension plans, paid leave, and other benefits.Ensure compliance with payroll and benefits laws and regulations according to jurisdiction, and with company policies.Prepare accounting entries related to salaries and benefits monthly.Prepare the annual budget for salaries, benefits, and related expenses.QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIREDProficient in both French and English, both written and verbal.Diligent and professional in managing ongoing tax matters.CPA Designation is preferred but not essential.Payroll certification is preferred but not essential (PCP, CPM, NPI, APM).Strong sense of responsibility, excellent time management, and ability to meet deadlines.Capable of working both independently and within a team.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS5+ years of relevant experience in a similar position.Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.Proficiency in Taxprep software.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.Understanding of payroll cycles and benefits (an asset).COMPENSATION$80,000-$105,0003 or 4 Weeks' VacationExtended Health BenefitsRSPHybrid WorkingOnsite GymDiscounts on selected products (car and home insurance).HOW TO APPLYPlease apply directly to this posting with the most recent version of your resume.
