Post of limited durationJob PostingClosing DatePrimary LocationOrganizationScheduleSchedule: Full-timeIMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that the deadline for receipt of applications indicated above reflects your personal device's system settings.OBJECTIVE OF THE OFFICE/DEPARTMENTThis is a requisition for employment at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO).The Communicable Disease Prevention, Control, and Elimination Department (CDE) promotes, coordinates, and implements technical cooperation activities directed toward the surveillance, prevention, control, elimination and/or reduction of communicable diseases, zoonosis, and related conditions that are technically sound and appropriate for the political and sociocultural context in which they are implemented.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESUnder the direct supervision of the Advisor, Communicable Disease Prevention, Control and Elimination and the general supervision of the PAHO/WHO Representative, the incumbent will be responsible for the following assigned duties:Provide technical support and collaborate in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of plans, programs and projects related to HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis (VH) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) with the Unified Health System (SUS).Support technical cooperation in the implementation and strengthening of policies, plans, programs and projects related to HIV/AIDS, VH and STI, serving as focal point of the Cooperation Agreement between PAHO/WHO and Ministry of Health.Support the preparation of PAHO/WHO documents on HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Support national authorities from different sectors in the implementation, evaluation and expansion of capacity related to health surveillance.Support the preparation, implementation and monitoring of research and projects in partnership with research institutions in HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Participate in national and international technical working groups and meetings on HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Collaborate in the preparation of the Representation's Biennial Work Plan (BWP) and in the execution of technical cooperation.Support technical organization and participate in relevant workshops, consultations and expert meetings.Mobilize financial and non-financial resources.Provide continuous support to HIV/STI/HV/TB team of PAHO WDC.Participate in technical discussions with WHO HQ and PAHO WDC.Perform other related duties, as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Essential: A university degree in a health science with specialization in public health, HIV/AIDS, VH, STI or any field related to the functions of the post.Experience:Essential: Five years of national experience working in public health focused on project management in the areas HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.SKILLS:Overall attitude at work: Maintains integrity and takes a clear ethical approach.Teamwork: Collaborate and cooperate with others.Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences.Communication: Express oneself clearly when speaking/writing.Knowing and managing yourself: Manages stress and invites feedback.Producing Results: Deliver quality results and take responsibility.Moving forward in a changing environment: Propose change and adapt to change.Technical Expertise:Technical expertise in HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Knowledge of WHO guidelines and protocols.Knowledge of combined prevention and continuum of care.Knowledge and experience in technical cooperation strategies.Knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals.Technical expertise in expanding strategies for access to prevention and care.Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy.Strong oral and written professional skills.Languages:Very good knowledge of Portuguese with working knowledge of English and Spanish.IT Skills:Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and software.REMUNERATION:Annual Salary: BRA R/ 284,557.00ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:This vacancy notice may be used to fill other similar positions at the same grade level.Only candidates under serious consideration will be contacted.A written test may be used as a form of screening.PAHO/WHO is an ethical organization that maintains high standards of integrity and accountability.
