Post of limited durationType: Full-timeOBJECTIVE OF THE OFFICE/DEPARTMENTThis is a requisition for employment at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO). The Communicable Disease Prevention, Control, and Elimination Department (CDE) promotes, coordinates, and implements technical cooperation activities directed toward the surveillance, prevention, control, elimination and/or reduction of communicable diseases, zoonosis, and related conditions that are technically sound and appropriate for the political and sociocultural context in which they are implemented.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESProvide technical support and collaborate in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of plans, programs and projects related to HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis (VH) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI).Support technical cooperation in the implementation and strengthening of policies, plans, programs and projects related to HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Support the preparation of PAHO/WHO documents on HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Support national authorities in the implementation, evaluation and expansion of capacity related to health surveillance.Support the preparation, implementation and monitoring of research and projects in partnership with research institutions.Participate in national and international technical working groups and meetings on HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Collaborate in the preparation of the Representation's Biennial Work Plan (BWP).Support national technical teams regarding requests for technical cooperation.Support the development and updating of documents and progress reports related to the implementation of the project.Support the Unit Coordinator in the implementation and evaluation of the overall performance of the Projects/Programs/Terms of Cooperation.Support technical organization and participate in relevant workshops and training.Mobilize financial and non-financial resources.Provide continuous support to the HIV/STI/HV/TB team of PAHO WDC.Participate in technical discussions with WHO HQ (Geneva) and PAHO WDC.Perform other related duties, as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Essential: A university degree in a health science with specialization in public health, HIV/AIDS, VH, STI or related fields.Experience:Essential: Five years of national experience working in public health focused on project management in HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.SKILLS:Overall attitude at work: Maintains integrity and takes a clear ethical approach.Teamwork: Collaborate and cooperate with others.Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences: Relate well to diversity in others.Communication: Express oneself clearly and effectively.Knowing and managing yourself: Manages stress and seeks feedback.Producing Results: Deliver quality results and takes responsibility.Moving forward in a changing environment: Propose change and adapt to change.Technical Expertise:Knowledge and experience in the areas of HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Knowledge of WHO guidelines and protocols.Experience in combined prevention and continuum of care for HIV/AIDS, VH and STI.Knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals and their indicators.Technical expertise in expanding strategies to improve access to prevention and care.Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication.Strong oral and written professional skills.Languages: Very good knowledge of Portuguese with working knowledge of English and Spanish.IT Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and software.REMUNERATION:Annual Salary: BRA R/284,557.00 (Net of taxes)ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:This vacancy notice may be used to fill other similar positions at the same grade level.
