CIPL is seeking to engage an
independent consultant
to serve as our
Latin America & Brazil Privacy and Data Policy Consultant
for a two-year term,
in
Brasília .
The
Consultant will provide services according to the terms and conditions that will be set forth in a Consulting Agreement to be executed with CIPL .
The Consultant's services will support our dynamic, global team of experts across all of our offices on a wide range of leading-edge privacy and data policy topics.
About the Services:
The
Latin America & Brazil Privacy and Data Policy Consultant
will keep current on all policy developments linked to CIPL's core topics.
They will perform in-depth legal research, analysis and contribute to CIPL's written materials in areas related to Latin American and Brazil Privacy
and data policy, accountability and organizational best practices and render services in coordination with the CIPL team to develop strategies and implement project plans to advance CIPL's global policy agenda.
This includes the following topics:
Developments regarding Brazil and Latin America data protection laws; accountability-based information management and privacy governance; data sharing developments and best practices; AI, machine learning, facial recognition, neuro technology and neuro rights, and other emerging technologies and governance issues; data driven innovation, privacy preserving technologies; international cross border data flows; privacy risk management; and effective privacy regulation and oversight.
Services Include:
Prepare and edit written materials, including:
- Project white papers on a wide range of privacy law and data policy topics, in particular those relating to Latin America and Brazil.
- Public consultation responses to Latin American and Brazilian data protection and other relevant authorities.
- Presentations, talking points and summaries of CIPL papers and research.
- Meeting reports from CIPL workshops and roundtables, and other industry meetings and events.
- Blog posts including for the CIPL and Hunton Andrews Kurth Privacy Blog.
- Articles for various privacy publications
Monitor and report on Latin American and Brazilian privacy developments to CIPL leadership and to CIPL members, and identify opportunities for CIPL engagement.
Conduct special projects including empirical research on organizational best practices with CIPL members, analyze findings and draft benchmark reports.
Take part in special privacy and data policy strategic consulting projects for CIPL members, other companies and governments.
Maintain member relations and engage with individual CIPL members on substantive data privacy and data policy issues.
Liaise with Latin American and Brazilian protection regulators (DPAs) and other relevant regulators and create agendas, content and identify speakers for CIPL events with and for DPAs and other regulators.
Manage ongoing projects, including coordinating project input and publication schedules.
Contribute to the development of new projects in Latin America and in Brazil and ideas that further CIPL's mission.
Assist CIPL with special Latin American and global projects.
Assist with planning, organizing and developing content for CIPL workshops, roundtables and other events.
Whenever necessary to carry out services, participate in in select CIPL team-, member- and stakeholder calls.
About the Consultant:
Consultant will be required to:
Provide writing, analytical, and public speaking capabilities and know-how in distilling and presenting complex information and concepts in a user-friendly way;
Conduct and research on emerging data privacy laws, AI laws, and other data-related laws, data policy developments and organizational best practices and related legal developments;
Have a keen understanding of technology and trends, strong interest in data privacy and data policy and how to enable responsible uses of data in the modern information age, while protecting rights of individuals;
Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
Render services under tight deadlines in a dynamic on the go environment.
Required Expertise:
Legal background or other similar and relevant background.
Experience in rendering services relating to privacy or data policy and laws to government, private sector entities, consultancies, law firms or think-tanks / academia.
Experience writing public consultation responses, white papers or articles on issues related to privacy and data policy and laws.
Capability of participating in meetings and preparing materials in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Additional Interests, Experience or Qualifications:
