They are the primary point of contact for the project, early engagement, and tendering teams, ensuring that all teams have access to the necessary information regarding the vessel's capabilities, performance, cost base, and technical library.During project execution, the Vessel Operations Manager works closely with the Project Manager/Project Operations Manager and the Offshore Management Team (OMT) to ensure the vessel program is delivered according to schedule. With the primary responsibility of ensuring consistent and efficient ways of working, the role is responsible for delivering predictable performance while prioritising safety and compliance with industry standards.The Vessel Operations Manager's role extends beyond project execution. They also contribute to the continuous improvement of the vessel's performance through regular monitoring and evaluation. This involves identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency, performance, and safety.Overall, the Vessel Operations Manager serves as a key member of the vessel's management team, overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. Their expertise and effective communication are essential for ensuring the effective execution of projects and the smooth operation of the vessel.What will you be doing?- Provide information on vessel equipment to facilitate additional checks during screening, providing support where CAPEX/Business Case contributions are needed, and ensuring that preliminary studies of the vessel's capabilities and operation are robust.- Support Tender Teams to navigate vessel information libraries, guidelines, and procedures. Allocate Field Engineers if needed to assist in the tender preparation process.- Approve Vessel Offshore Schedule ensuring correct Vessel NORMs are used.- Work with the tender team to determine the most effective methods of mobilisation and demobilisation considering outgoing and incoming projects.- Offer technical expertise for operations that fall outside of standard operating envelopes.- Deliver Cost and Schedule for Vessel Equipment Upgrades.- Identify threats, opportunities and provide qualifications relating to vessel equipment and vessel assurance requirements.- Provide vessel expertise in technical reviews, design reviews, and HAZID, HAZOP, and HIRA reviews.- Identify and allocate a Field Engineer to assist in the development of onshore engineering.- Validate installation procedures and project-specific equipment that is outside of the range and track record of standard vessel operation.- Ensure that operations requiring high equipment utilisation have been approved, and raise awareness of risk associated with such activities, such as higher maintenance levels.- Ensure that appropriate vessel stability and DP assessments have been performed.- Verify that the offshore schedule is unchanged when incorporated into the project schedule. Variation should be documented and assessed.- The PG Operations RACI should be consistently applied and shared with the project teams to ensure consistent methods of working while adhering to PM7 best practices.- Develop a vessel readiness program, roles, responsibilities, and tools in partnership with the Project Operations Manager and participate in its implementation. VOM is accountable for all vessel specific readiness actions.- Maintain a consolidated vessel POB.- Ensure that the equipment and crew logistics plan is suitable for the vessel.- Work closely with Project and Crewing teams to ensure that all visa, training, and medical requirements specific to the Project are understood and identified. Oversee crew readiness and escalate issues as necessary.- Maintain a risk register for upcoming project activities to mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities. Identify and escalate issues to management as soon as possible.- Ensure that security plans are implemented according to the operation's region.- Prepare a detailed schedule for port calls between Projects and Offshore Resources activities. Ensure that GVS and regional planning teams are informed.- Providing offshore expertise at onshore locations.- Ensure that a mobilisation plan has been prepared in advance and that a mob notification has been circulated by the project- Monitor and report on the vessel's operational performance regularly.
