Purpose – Drilling & Measurements Specific Lead Directional Driller Cross Trained (Lead DDX) performs directional drilling services at the wellsite and promotes the SLB QHSE culture.
The Lead DDX plans, executes, and manages all phases of a directional drilling job to deliver services that meet client expectations and Well Construction standards.
He/she also provides technical support to clients and other Well Construction crew members at the wellsite.
The Lead DDX is partially responsible for the training and development of less experienced DD and MLWD/Wellsite operators personnel while at the wellsite.
Lead DDX is also responsible for delivering high quality measurements and LWD services where required, in close cooperation with Remote Operations Engineers.
Responsibilities A.
People The Lead DDX reports directly to the Product & Service Deliver Manager (PSDM) or Field Service Manager.Manages personal development and keeps informed on current SLB Well Construction technology and strategy.Responsible for training, coaching and mentoring junior engineers or specialists, leading competency assessments to improve proficiency levels of junior population.Follows the ASPIRE fixed-step development program.Reviews and appraises the performance of subordinates, consistent with performance objectives, and determines the need for additional training in a fair and consistent manner.Maintains good communication with the Client's well site representative and rig crew and D&M field support staff, such as drilling engineers and job coordinators.B.
Processes Adheres to location specific work processes.Responsible for pre-job planning and mobilization.Leads any directional drilling job within the current competency level.
Demonstrates knowledge of all DD techniques and all surveying methods used in the location.Takes ownership of personal competency development.Executes the job according to the client standard operation procedures & Job and Well Program and using Standard Working Instructions.Develops expertise on advanced well planning techniques using Drilling Office software.Assists clients by providing solutions for drilling issues.Ensures all client deliverables are quality controlled and delivered to the clients as per Client SOP and SLB standards, in a timely manner.Provides required information to Remote Operations Engineers in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted job execution and reporting process.Acts as the Well Construction Measurements- client focal point for drilling operations at the rig site.Ensures all Well Construction Measurements reporting requirements are fulfilled accurately and on a timely basis.Effectively manages inventory and supplies required at the well site and reports in appropriate business systems.Actively participates in Knowledge sharing.Follows and complies with all SLB SQ, HSE and IT standards, wears all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Behavior Learns quickly and adapts to new problems and situations.Is a relentless and versatile learner.Pursues everything with energy, drive and a need to finish.Uses logic to solve problems with effective solutions.Is personally committed to continuous improvement.Communicates effectively with managers, peers and clients both written and verbally.Stays focused on QHSE.Provides continuous improvement feedback.Minimum Requirements Technical or higher education.Active CFT/CREA.Previous experience with directional drilling.Offshore experience.
