We are looking for an innovative, strategic, and flexible leader to provide oversight of the West County First 5 Center in San Pablo.
The West County First 5 Center is a safe and welcoming hub serving families with young children ages 0-5 years with no-cost activities such as parent/child interactive classes, parent education, developmental screenings, and community resources.
Funded by First 5 Contra Costa and operated by Bay Area Community Resources (BACR), the First 5 Center serves as an early childhood resource for local families and community partners.The Director of the First 5 Center in San Pablo is responsible for the overall success of the Center by ensuring quality family strengthening programs and building positive relationships with community members, partners, and program participants.

or equivalent in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field; or four to ten years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceKeen interest in working with the complexities of a family resource center--holding the vision and mission while attending to the granular details needed to maintain programming and operationsExperience with program planning, implementation, evaluation, and community organizingExperience with budget managementEffective problem-solving skills and ability to adapt as program needs evolveAbility to balance and strategize concurrent projectsStrong verbal and written communication skills, including group presentations and group facilitationAbility to exemplify strong interpersonal skills, work with individuals from varied backgrounds, and support others in navigating through a diverse environmentKnowledge of early childhood education principles as well as trauma informed/healing centered practices is a plusResponsibilities:Program Development and Strategic Planning : Collaborate with the Center team, First 5 Contra Costa, and Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the Center's mission and enhance service delivery.Operational Management : Ensure that the Center's operations meet established standards and procedural criteria, maintaining a high level of service quality.Staff Management : Oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of staff, including Community Resource Specialists, Early Childhood Educators, and support staff.
Provide reflective supervision to encourage professional growth and development.Cultural Competency and Inclusion : Ensure that programs affirm and strengthen participants' cultural, racial, and linguistic identities, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where meaningful interactions occur.Program Responsiveness : Ensure that programs remain flexible and responsive to emerging family and community issues, adapting as necessary to meet the needs of participants.Quality Monitoring : Monitor the quality and fidelity of programs delivered by staff and subcontracted instructors, ensuring consistent and effective service delivery.Community Partnerships : Establish and monitor Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with community partners to support in-kind programming and collaboration.
Participate in collaborative meetings with community partners and funders.Outcome Documentation and Reporting : Document program outcomes and evaluation measures in the database, providing detailed reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.Budget and Financial Oversight : Monitor existing grant funding, manage the Center's budget, and provide financial oversight to ensure compliance with internal and contract requirements.
