The Technical Coordinator will liaise directly with project managers, their teams, government counterparts, United Nations employees, potential donors, and other stakeholders in order to provide technical support and advance FAO's mandate.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesOversee and follow-up on day-to-day implementation of the Better Nutrition and Better Production technical areas in the FAO Brazil office.Coordinate all project personnel that work within the technical areas under his supervision and establish an efficient workflow with them.Liaise with government institutions, donors, UN focal points, academia, civil society, private sector, NGOs, among others that collaborate or intend to cooperate with FAO.Guide the formulation of new projects framed under one or more of Better Nutrition's and/or Better Production's Programme Priority Areas (PPAs).Oversee the correct implementation of projects activities, as per defined in their work plans, while ensuring transparent communication with projects' partners.Ensure that implementation of projects contributes to the achievement of both the office's biannual work plan and the Country Programming Framework (CPF).Supervise the preparation of terms of reference for recruiting consultants, signing commercial contracts and/or prepare Letters of Agreement, guaranteeing their alignment to projects' work plans.Oversee the preparation and processing of projects extensions, mid-term reviews and/or budget/substantive revisions, while ensuring that FAO's, national, and donors' procedures are followed.Follow up on projects' risk mitigation plans and evaluate if actions are needed to correct the implementation course.Ensure that information on Better Nutrition and Better Production projects is updated in FAO's institutional systems, such as FPMIS, PIRES, and COIN.Identify potential resource mobilization opportunities for projects.Coordinate the on-time elaboration of technical inputs related to the Better Nutrition/Production areas for strategic planning and reporting requests from the RLC office or HQ, when required by supervisors.Follow up on any regional agenda requests when needed.Travel when necessary.CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:Master's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Agricultural Engineering, Agrarian Sciences, Social Sciences, or related fields.At least five years (5) of relevant experience in results-based management of nutrition- and/or production-related projects/programmes.Working knowledge (level C) of English.FAO Core CompetenciesTechnical/Functional SkillsAt least three (3) years of experience with the management of programs and/or projects in one of the previous areas funded by international donors.Previous experience in liaising with high-level national authorities, and/or international organizations representatives.Consistent knowledge of Brazilian laws, public policies, programs, guidelines, and initiatives on more than one of the following areas: food security and nutrition, healthy food, dietary patterns, food and agriculture supply, family farming, digital agriculture, and others related.Working knowledge of Spanish is an asset.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONFAO does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview, processing).Please note that FAO will only consider academic credentials or degrees obtained from an educational institution recognized in the IAU/UNESCO list.Please note that FAO only considers higher educational qualifications obtained from an institution accredited/recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED), a list updated by the International Association of Universities (IAU) / United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.HOW TO APPLYTo apply, visit the recruitment website at Jobs at FAO and complete your online profile.
