**Summary**:
This position is part of Colgate's Global Packaging responsible for Brazil and Argentina Packaging department.
This position supports the primary company strategies of Driving Growth, by developing and implementing innovative consumer preferred packaging, Funding Growth, by driving savings and standardization efforts globally.
Sustainability, by transforming the company packaging materials to achieve the requirements established in the program.
The role is cross-functional in nature, working closely with Marketing, Supply Chain (Procurement, Operations, Logistics), Quality and Product Development teams.
Partnerships with outside packaging vendors and industry are a critical element of job responsibilities.
This position is part of the LATAM Packaging organization, it collaborates with talented engineers in each of the Colgate subsidiaries and Global Packaging.
**Specific Responsibilities**:
- Lead the Packaging Team to deliver the LATAM/Bz & Arg goals and priorities.
- Develop the talent under their responsibility, for continuous growth.
- Lead the conceptualization, initiation, development and implementation of new and improved packages and processes including: design generation, prototype development, engineering specifications, mold and machinery qualification, functionality and quality testing, and technology transfer.
- Lead the design of packaging systems and packaging components, ensuring defined needs for sustainability, ergonomics, equity aesthetics, consumer acceptance, manufacturing capability and quality are met from the program brief through design, engineering and Commercialization
- Define and implement standardization, digitalization, automation and simplification programs, and margin improvement projects
- Ensure the project meets upon goals.
Continuously assess and communicate project results vs. goals and take corrective action when required
- Lead with Procurement partners local packaging contracts with suppliers.
Evaluate and coordinate supplier's activity to ensure compliance with Colgate standards and expectations.
- Defines priorities and communicates to main stakeholers.
Provides to the packaging laboratory the priorities needed for project validations.
- Collaborations in cross-functional analysis of quality packaging situations to identify causes and drive resolution.
- Identify and provide rationale for funds needed to successfully deliver project goals
- Understand, interpret and communicate to global packaging, package testing procedures and standards to support the effective design, validation, and implementation of new packages and packaging technology.
- Prepares and presents packaging status of priorities and objectives.
- Build competitive advantage by identifying, evaluating, and championing technical advancements, design trends and innovations in packaging.
Stay aware of supplier and competitor new developments, and highlight to appropriate management as needed
- Develop, justify and execute capital projects related to packaging (i.e.
molds/machinery)
- BS or MS in Packaging, Engineering or Material Science
- Solid experience in a consumer products, packaged goods or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in Packaging or in Supply Chain areas
- Experience managing a team
- English - Advanced
- Ability to travel 5-10% (domestic and Global) based on project needs
**Preferred Qualifications (Additional education, experience, skills etc as assets)**:
- Previous experience in a multinational company
- Experience coordinating packaging development projects with Product Development, Marketing and the Supply Chain.
- Experience in package testing and with package specifications
- Portuguese or Spanish
