Who will you be working with?Our best-in-class Control Electronics team combines knowledge of micro-electronics hardware design, firmware, packaging, and validation with deep domain expertise to develop new products with cutting-edge technologies. You will have opportunities to work with other engineering teams, product management teams, supply chain teams, as well as our suppliers to deliver high quality and reliable electronic products for the Freight Locomotive and Off High Vehicle industry.How will you make a difference?The FPGA/Firmware Design Engineer will design, develop and validate advanced digital logic for the electronics team and provide key technical contributions to near term and longer-range projects with substantial business impact. Strong initiative and organizational skills are required to manage the projects and deliver program goals.What do we want to know about you?Minimum of 10 years experience developing FPGA logic and low level software / firmware in real-time embedded environment. Excellent digital design skills including the design of state machines, soft cores, clock domain management, and I/O interfaces.Firm understanding of electronic schematics, printed circuit board design and test, as well as hands on experience in simulation / design validation tools preferably ModelSim.What will your typical day look like?Lead the FPGA/Firmware development efforts at Wabtec Freight and equipment businessDevelop FPGA based control, processing and communication solutions in an embedded real-time control environment utilizing the latest Xilinx / Znyq / Artix technology and Vivado development toolsWork with electronics hardware, software, and system teams to define product requirements and develop FPGA vision and roadmap for innovationDevelop distributed digital CPU core technology involving Freescale microprocessors and Xilinx FPGA's / CPLD'sPartition processing, communication and control tasks for optimized core efficiency and real-time software / firmware task management simplification Develop and articulate FPGA/digital core vision and work with internal and external teams to establish FPGA based platform technology and culture Establish performance and robustness in terms of sensor and peripheral sampling, stimulation and control using Nyquist, sampling methods, state machine control, data control, microprocessor interfacing and interrupt design and management Establish design and quality methods, specifications, documentation, verification, test benches, best practices and VHDL / Verilog coding standards. #LI-TO1 Wabtec Corporation is committed to taking on the world's toughest challenges.
